Unang Balita is a morning newscast that serves as the news segment of Unang Hirit, first aired on July 15, 2002. The newscast is currently anchored by Arnold Clavio, Ivan Mayrina, Susan Enriquez, and Mariz Umali.

History

The newscast was launched in 1999 as Pangunahing Balita, but was renamed to its present name in 2002.

On April 2022, the newscast revamped its graphics, but the 2019 logo remains in use on the lower thirds.

On February 28, 2023, a day after GMA changed to widescreen display, Connie Sison left the program, leaving only four anchors.

On October 2, 2023, coinciding Unang Hirit's transfer to a new studio, Unang Balita changed their logo.

On December 18, 2023, Unang Balita, alongside 24 Oras, Saksi, Balitanghali, State of the Nation, and GMA Integrated News Bulletin, revamped their graphics, logo, and music, as well as the OBB, which features rotating letters/logos akin to the 2013 and 2016 Marvel Studios logos. The change is part of GMA Integrated News's unified corporate identity, and does not affect the graphics of the main Unang Hirit program.

Trivia

• Unang Balita is the only newscast to not have a closing spiel as the program is within Unang Hirit.
• With four anchors, Unang Balita is tied for the most anchors in a newscast in the Philippines, along with ABS-CBN's primetime newscast, TV Patrol.
  • It previously held the record alone prior to Connie Sison's departure, with five.
• The logo of Unang Balita was mistakenly spotted on a June 3, 2024 broadcast of Balitanghali after the OBB, presumably due to technical error.
  • This was later edited out in the videos uploaded by GMA Integrated News on YouTube.
• Due to the GMA Integrated News newscasts using unified graphics since December 2023, other newscasts names may be erroneously mentioned on the ticker on Unang Balita, such as 24 Oras and State of the Nation.
