The central goal of the category system is to provide navigational links to all GMA Network Wiki pages in a hierarchy of categories which readers, knowing essential characteristics of a topic, can browse and quickly find sets of pages on topics that are defined by those characteristics.
Naming conventions[]
- Standard article naming conventions apply (see Article Guidelines); in particular, do not capitalize regular nouns except when they come at the beginning of the title.
- Names of topic categories should be singular, normally corresponding to the name of an article. Examples: "GMA Network", "GMA Integrated News".
- Names of set categories should be plural. Example: "Actors".
Categorizing pages[]
Each categorized page should be placed in all categories to which it logically belongs. This means that if a page belongs to a subcategory of C (or a subcategory of a subcategory of C, and so on), then it should also be placed into C if and only if C would also logically and directly apply to the page. For example:
- Julie Anne San Jose is placed in Category:Singers.
- Mel Tiangco would not be placed in Category:Entertainment personalities.
Category blacklist[]
The category blacklist is a list of categories the community has deemed unneeded and should be removed from all pages.
List[]
The following is a table of unneeded categories.
- Category:Personalities - removed November 30, 2024
- Category:TV hosts - renamed Category:Hosts on November 30, 2024
